Scorecard

  • Hole #1

A tee shot up to the black/yellow pole is required for visible shot to the green. Approach shot should favour the more forgiving left side. Be careful of fast putts from back to front.
  • Hole #2

This hole plays more downhill than it appears. Tee shots usually run to the left when they hit the fairway. Be aware of the pin position when laying up to avoid a tricky pitch shot.
  • Hole #3

The tees are much higher than they appear. Front tees are a club shorter and the back tees are usually two clubs shorter than the distance marked. Left bunkers should be avoided.
  • Hole #4

Tee shot to the black/yellow pole is perfect. Gamblers may want to try and fly the bunker leaving a short pitch. Protect from being long on the approach shot. Short of the pin is best.
  • Hole #5

Hit the green or be short of this testy little hole. Top tee is 75 feet above the green, this is about 2 clubs less than the distance marked. Be careful when the wind is blowing, as the ball will be airborne much longer then usual.
  • Hole #6

A great risk reward hole! Hit a long drive and you can consider going for the green. Approach shot plays uphill more than it appears. Be careful of ravine on lay-up. Long approach shots have a backstop of mounds.
  • Hole #7

If it's your first time on the course, play to the wagon wheel on the left side of the fairway. Longer hitters can aim for the 3 spruce trees through the fairway.
  • Hole #8

Gentle looking hole is tricky. Left of green is more difficult to recover from than it appears. Short of the green is the best place to miss hit a shot.
  • Hole #9

Forget about reaching this green in two. Two careful shots to the black/white then the black/yellow poles will result in a lower score than playing aggressively. Be careful of the water 60 yards short of the green.
  • Hole #10

Staying in the fairway is very important to avoid a high score on this teaser. No trouble short and right as you approach this elevated green that is partially blind. The green is longer than it appears.
  • Hole #11

This long hole teases you to play down the left side. This is dangerous as the rough is deep and difficult. Even long fairway shots have a good chance to reach the green, as it is open in front and very large.
  • Hole #12

Club selection is very important on this hole. The green is almost 3 clubs long so pay close attention to the pin placement. The hill behind the green acts as a nice backstop.
  • Hole #13

The par-4 No. 13 (427 yards from the back tees and 323 from the forward) can be played in straightforward fashion. Stay left of the fairway bunker on the right but not so left that you end up in the treacherous ravine on the left-hand side. Though the fairway is narrow, you probably can use a driver. If you hook or slice, lay back with a 3-wood.
  • Hole #14

Do not try to cut the corner. Just short of the fairway bunker is the best position. Favor the right side on the approach shot. The green and the slope to the right of the green will move the ball to the center.
  • Hole #15

This hole should be played carefully. Shorter hitters should not try to reach the green in two. The escarpment comes into play past the bunker and cuts out into the fairway on a line that is near to the middle of the green.
  • Hole #16

No. 16 (251 yards from the back and 166 from the forward) is clearly the signature hole on the course. In fact, Score Magazine awarded this hole a silver medal for being the best par-3 in Canada. There's a huge elevation drop from the tee box to green – a 130-foot drop. "This hole makes for the most spectacular photo on the course when you're in 16th tee box – you can see for miles."

From up on your lofty perch, you're going to think that the green is a postage stamp. But actually it's very large and also well-bunkered. You have a very difficult shot straight downhill with rocks and fescue grass the whole way. You have to fly all the way. If you go too far, you could roll down to river. It's critical to find proper club. Usually players use two to three clubs less than normal.

  • Hole #17

Another great view hole comes up on No. 17, a par-4 (360 yards from the back and 280 from the forward). There are gorgeous views here of the mountains. In fact, you feel as if you're hitting right at the Rockies.
  • Hole #18

If you've had any trouble along the way, you might be able to improve your score on the par-5 No. 18, playing at 535 yards from the back and 425 from the forward. As you hit back toward the clubhouse, you'll find it fairly easy to hit the green in two.

There's a good chance to make birdie on the last hole. You do have to hit over a creek about 60 yards from the green in order to make it in two.
